THE MOTOWN TRIBUTE ORCHESTRA

The Motown Tribute Orchestra is a ten-piece ensemble that performs hits made by Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, and many more.
Formed by Musical Director John Gray, bassist and leader on the Calgary jazz scene who toured with the Ray Charles Orchestra, an ensemble of Calgary’s finest musicians will recreate the one-of-a-kind sound of Motown and perform such hits as What’s Going On, Superstition, My Girl, Ain’t Too Proud To Beg, and more.
Featuring award-winning Thomas Alexander on lead vocals, the group includes a solid rhythm section, a killer horn section, and two soulful backup singers.
IRVING BERLIN TRIBUTE

Tribute to one of the most celebrated composers of The Great American Songbook (1900-1950), this concert will feature revered Berlin standards such as: Cheek to Cheek, Blue Skies, and White Christmas.

HERBIE HANCOCK TRIBUTE

Herbie Hancock is an Oscar – and Grammy winning American jazz pianist, bandleader, and composer who came to prominence with the Miles Davis Quintet of 1965-1968 and recorded the second – best – selling jazz recording of all time (Headhunters).

DUKE ELLINGTON CLASSICS

DEXTER GORDON CLASSICS

Oscar-nominated and Grammy – winning saxophonist and composer Dexter Gordon is recognized as the first bebop musician on tenor saxophone and played in Calgary in 1974.

VIRTUOSIC BRAZILIAN CLASSICS

This concert will feature challenging and exciting Brazilian music from the styles of Choro, Bossa Nova, Baiao, Samba, Frevo, Xote, and Tango styles, plus original compositions.
Featuring Brazil/Canada Connection, a long-time collaboration between Brazilian pianist/composer Denis Nassar (originally from Sao Paolo) and John Reid, saxophone and flute.
FRANK SINATRA TUNES
